Well, only one more color left in my fruit series....purple.

Obviously, it didn't work too well stacking the blueberries on his

head individually, so I super glued them and let it set a day. I got

off 6 shots before he tilted his head forward and the stack fell to

the floor and crumbled. Luckily, 6 was all I needed. Got it on the 5th.

Christoph - My dog is patient, but as I stated in my critique request, they are all super glued together, so it wasn't that hard. I actually made the stack to fit his head by putting coins underneath certain rows of berries before gluing. I got this the quickest of the entire series.

Hi Scott,

I didn't see that original explanation. I still find it amazing. My dog would never let me do that. After all, it's food you're putting on his head. :-)

It's a great shot!

This and the whole series of "Winston and his fruits" are all equally impressive for the cool of the model and your vivid imagination. All excellent images,Bravo!

Thanks for the message......  This worked well!  You found some really large blueberries, which is good, and then to super glue them together was brilliant.  Winston looks a little 'weary' in this one.  I wonder if he's tiring of this 'game'.  :-)  But I've enjoyed the series and it appears everyone else has as well.

As for the purple...... Champagne grapes are seasonal, but if you live in a big city someone can get them for you if you order them (possibly even a gourmet grocery store if you talk to their produce manager.....do you live near a Whole Foods?).  Or you can call a local produce place/wholesaler.    But even red grapes could work because they certainly have a purplish tone to them.  Or you could soak them in something like grape Kool-Aid, which may give them more of a purple cast.   There is another kind of grape called a Red Globe grape......still more purple than red.....but they are bigger and have seeds (perhaps too big for your purposes).  Then there are always purple plums???  Just throwing out ideas.  I'll stay tuned.

Thank you, everybody. I can't wait to be done and have the final 6 picture montage complete. Hopefully, you all won't be tired of the series by then.

Christal - Yes, I was lucky to find large and blue ones at Sam's. There were only a couple packages of blue ones left....most were purplish. I saw some fresh ones at Walmart today too. I figured this time of year they would all be frozen. I haven't seen any small purple grapes in the stores, but I did look in my own fridge about an hour ago and held up the grapes that I bought with a bunch of other fruit right before the apple pic, to the purple canvas I got today and they look close enough. They only have minor wrinkles at this age too, but they weigh a ton. I would want probably two good bunches twisted together and hanging off each side of his head and one bunch of these feels like 2 pounds and I know he would just hang his head with that on it. Thanks so much for the Whole Foods information. I had never heard of it before and just did a Google search and there is one 6 1/2 miles from me. The info on that particular store brags about their huge produce section, so I will be checking it out.

I probably shouldn't be posting this pic, but I know some people wonder how much torture I put my boy through for these shots and I wanted to show how much he actually loves these fruit shoots, along with my basic setup. He would kill me if he knew I was posting this, so I hope he never finds out.:) He just knows when it's time for the shoot and he is in front of me and sits in that spot where he belongs without me telling him. I honestly only see him pull out the lipstick maybe twice a year and he has done it with every single fruit shoot. Also, in his defense, I am shooting at 12mm, which causes distortion with the 10-22mm, where everything close looks large and everything in the back looks small.:)

No worries.....this doesn't look like a tortured dog to me.  :-)  I'm a 'dog person', and I know how devoted they can be.  They're so anxious to please.  You're just lucky he enjoys it so much.  I only wish he could realize how much pleasure he has brought to us through your creative series!
