This is a "full-frame" shot (no cropping). I have only darkened the whole image by -10 to reduce the slight background glare.

It's hard to believe a bird can have such beautiful colours..........

Grayham,

A handsome fellow here!

Of the series, I like this shot the best. I think on all the others I find that branch going horizontally across the frame just above their heads too distracting for my taste. But, that's just me and my preferences.

I know it won't happen but, it would be a real joy to have some of these show up in my yard! That must have been quite a treat!

I've seen them at the Zoo and they are beautiful creatures.

Cheers Grayham,

Jim j.

One of a number of images I shot on Sunday morning when A flock of

these Lorikeets flew in for breakfast.

Got to love the colours!

Such an exotic looking bird, it seems you have a tropical paradise in your own back yard!

The composition is spot on too with the bird slightly offset and the cross of the branches making a kind of visual target too.

Now looking at the larger view, I'm just wondering if the branch he is perched on was more in focus than the bird, as the branch seems very sharp and the bird less so?

Compliments & Best Regards

I love the colors!  This one was the only one of the series I could view larger.   I wish the focus on the bird were just a little sharper.  The branch seems so much clearer than the face, for example.  It's not a big deal, by any means, just either a focal point difference of depth of field choice.  What a treat for for you to get to see birds like this!  Thanks for posting this wonderful series!

Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate your comments but need to add that "I takes them where I sees them" and don't always have the choice of backdrop.

I just have the feeling that these little fella's might just be unique to South Western Australia (my book is at Louise's.

Your comments are all very valid and well taken. I mentioned on one of the images that I had inadvertently used the settings of the previous outing and as a consequence my metering was not set to my normal "spot" setting. Checking the original, you are correct in saying that the branch is a tad sharper........ a lesson re-learned to check ones settings before a shoot.

Thanks for your visit and kind words.

Your "focus" comment mirrors that of Alf's (above) and I hope my answer there will suffice.
