Very nicely balanced lighting.  You've certainly hit the 'sweet spot' in combining the available street lighting with that of the sky area.  Too many otherwise great shots are left wanting for this lower contrast combination.  Pure black skies and shadow areas without details are seldom the best combinations(in my opinion)  though I suppose there are exceptions.  Just so I don't give you too big a head I would trade the top third of the sky area for a corresponding amount in the foreground.  Not much of interest in that area of sky while my bet is that the unseen foreground would offer much more.  Also, being a recent D5100 owner with two kit lenses covering 18-200 mm range, I'd be interested in your thoughts on the 35mm f 1.8 lens you used here.  Best, LM.

Thank you Len and Maurizio.

@Len: I agree with you that it would have been better if the sky was not half the frame. In my defense, this photo was taken from a 17th floor closed window of a hotel, so it was not possible to choose a different camera angle.

About the 35mm prime, it is way sharper than all of my other lenses (Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3 Di II, Nikon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6 DX). The bokeh is decent and it allows me to shoot in many low light situations that are impossible to shoot in with the other lenses. It is a bit soft wide open, but f/2 on, it is spot on. However, I am getting quite a bit of lens flare - I still need to check if this can be reduced by removing my UV filter.
