Early every New Year's morning I take my camera and stalk the

empty streets to see what I can see. You meet only the odd

wanderer or the occasional sleeping reveler, so it's mostly just the

streets and me. In such resounding quiet, without the distraction of

people and the usual tumult of the city, I find my senses are

sharpened and I hunt game that would otherwise escape my notice.

I'm primarily a street photographer but I must say I sometimes prefer

it when there's no one else around.

Happy New Year Jack,

I completely agree -- 30 below standing on in the middle of deserted intersections -- it doesn't get better until the shutter breaks ; )

I love this shot for all the wrong reasons, plastic bags should be banned. They have become the city landscape.

Is interesting your story and feelings for a morning New Year walk,I almost see the image of empty streets.Unfortunately plastic bag can be find every where even on most isolated nature corners, even an useful thing is one of most unwanted for nature.

lot of excellent moments to have in 2014

Love this one.... :) Thank you for the story... I see Jack the wizard turning things into the art...sprucing quiet morning with the uncommon ornaments ..

This one looks like a little singing chick to me :).

I can't help but think of the movie "American Beauty" when the teenage young man videotaped a bag like this blowing in the wind and described it as " the most beautiful thing I've ever shot". Here you go again, finding art in the everyday,
