Mike, I will never forget when Nikon burst out with a string of full-frame digital DSLRs, starting with the D3.  In spite of how far we have come, the cameras derived from that lineage are still very much in demand.  They are high-performance machines that are easy to operate.  I love this D3s for ease of operation and ease of processing files.

Another big game changer, I think, was the near simultaneous release of two sub-$2k full-frame DSLRs: the Nikon D600 and the Canon 6D.  Both do amazingly well at low light with at least 20 megapixels.  Because of the dust-oil problem (now resolved with the D610), the full impact of the D600 has been delayed, but I think that it, too, will be a game-changer.

On top of everything else, there is most recently the big surge from Sony. 

It has been a good time to be alive.  I am glad that I lived to see the digital revolution in popular photography.  I wonder what is coming next.
