Hi Len, I like the way the birds are silhouetted against that big cloud behind them, it's a perfect backdrop. Hope you and yours have a healthy and happy New Year. Take care.

BR,

Holger

I wasn't planning on a silhouette.  It was a happy accident.  I had my new camera set on 'P' and the minimum shutter speed at 1\400 sec.  For details in the birds I would have had to give compensation of +1 or 2 stops.  I think I like it better this way.  Best, LM.

I'd be temmpted to follow them south right about now!

BTW, your Christmas contest entry did pretty well in terms of votes.

Yah, it's been frosty lately.  As for my contest entry. well, all my relatives must have voted.  :-)  It's still a winner at our house.  Best, LM.

The geese silhouetted against the white clouds was a happy accident.  I was in the early stages of learning how to use this new camera when the flock flew by.  I simply raised the camera and fired off a burst of 3 frames without thinking much about the end result.  Luck is good!  :-)  I don't think details in the birds would have raised the impact of this one.  Perhaps the contrary.   Sometimes (most often?) the camera is smarter than the photographer.  Best, LM.

A happy accident in photography, shows the best of works....;-))

This is a very nice clouds framing for the beautiful  lines of birds.. ...and title.

As Israel is a passing point of a large amount of them every year at migration time, they will probably  fly toward us...;-))

Good timing, and composition.Best wishes.

Great opportunities for wildlife shots when you are on their migration path.  As I've said, 'Luck is Good'.  I was out with my new camera looking for material to shoot when this flock went by so it wasn't a total surprise.  The camera was set on 'P' and I had made no exposure compensation.  As a result the camera exposed for the bright clouds and left the geese in silhouette.  If these geese are flying towards you they should be showing up about now.  This was taken in September and it's a long way across the Atlantic & Mediterranean.     :-)  Nice to hear from you again.  Best, LM.

Very nice background, how considered you are for the eyes of the viewers, Len! Ha! Sorry for my glaring sun which harmed your eyes!

Best regards
