Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 31, 2013 URBAN NIGHTSCAPE: Comments welcome. --Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 31, 2013 Shot hand-held at ISO 12,800. I had to shoot quite a few before I got one that did not show camera shake. --Lannie Link to comment
JPPhoto1664880217 5 Posted December 31, 2013 Is the color real? (i.e. has the saturation on the orange been increased in PS?) Jim Phelps Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted December 31, 2013 Jim, this is one of two shots in the folder in which I have increased the saturation. It might be too much. What do you think? Here is the other shot in the folder that has had the saturation increased: [LINK] --Lannie Link to comment
JPPhoto1664880217 5 Posted December 31, 2013 This becomes more of an abstract (and less documentary/representational) with the orange this saturated. I LIKE it, the question is do YOU like it? Is it what you want to say? The effect is different in the other image you linked to above. The primary effect in this image is in the green. In both images, the green luminance level is low This reduces the impact of the saturation on green. In the linked image the saturation creates more depth and looks more realistic (see J. Itten, " The Art of Color" http://www.amazon.com/The-Art-Color-Subjective-Experience/dp/0471289280 for a much more detailed discussion of this and other color effects on the viewer). Landrum Kelly 65 Posted January 1, 2014 Jim, I had increased saturation overall by 21. Since your comments, I have pulled it back by 12 to only 9. Yes, the greens and orange certainly do affect perceptions one of the other when juxtaposed. --Lannie Link to comment
