My mom pestered me to photograph her Nativity scene figurines.  I did.  Then I improvised a little.  A few weeks ago I kept a single popcorn that looked like Cthulhu.  It keeps working its way into my photos.

Deliciously sacrilegious. I think a little more light on the popcorn-child, it's a little hard to read it without explanation.

I might experiment with this a bit more.  The lighting was a combination of little LED candles and a little flashlight for painting with light.  Every exposure was slightly different, sort of like dodging and burning a print in the darkroom where it's difficult to precisely match each print.

 

It was also a challenge because I set the creche on top of my cats' beige carpeted play tower, to better match the creche sand.  Eartha Kitty decided if I was going to borrow her toy, she was going to sit under it and swat at my carefully arranged figurines.  So I was holding a Pocket Wizard transmitter in one hand, a little flashlight in the other, and shooing cats away with the third.

My mom still thinks this particular bit of popcorn looks like an angel, not Cthulhu.  So she wasn't offended by my blasphemy.
