museebfoto 2 Posted December 28, 2013 Hi LenUnusual composition with this very fine natural and blurred frame. Great sense in nature and its beautiful colours. Really really amazing colours. Happy New Year for you and your family. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 28, 2013 Thanks for your thoughts. The composition turned out pretty much as I planned. I used the darker beech leaves as a frame for the yellow maples. The square crop seemed best. I think I may have accidentally (new camera, still on learning curve) had the camera set for more intense colours as their intensity surprised even me. Luck is good! See you in 2014. Best, LM. Link to comment
alfbailey 1 Posted December 29, 2013 Very inventive! I like what you have done here with the framing, and the results look suitably impressive.......I wonder if you could have made the foreground leaves even more blurry with a wider aperture? Or was that as wide as it goes? Nice work Len! Alf Link to comment
steveshinn 0 Posted December 30, 2013 A beautiful piece of work Len. You really nailed this one; dof, comp., framing and the colors, all perfect. It looks so very floral. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted December 30, 2013 I was using the kit (55-200, f4 - f5.6) so this one, at f 5.6 was pretty close to 'wide open'. I do get your point though. In retrospect I suppose I could have stood back further & used the lens closer to the 200 mm end. That would have maximized the foreground blur while leaving the yellow leaves relatively untouched & still sharp. Something to keep in mind for future outings. Thanks for touching on that aspect. Hope I can remember all these suggestions. :-) Best, LM. Link to comment

LenMarriott 9 Posted March 3, 2014 Those are the very reasons I took this one. The framing is natural. All I had to do was decide the point of focus. Thanks for your visit. Best, LM. Link to comment

stp 6 Posted March 3, 2014 Many have mentioned the framing, and that was my thought as well when I viewed the photograph. The red leaves surrounding the frame with a dense cluster of yellow leaves in the center is really eye-catching. Nicely done. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted March 4, 2014 Good to get your take on this offering. The Beech leaves formed a natural frame for me. No brainer! The lighter leaves in the center tend to draw the eye through that frame. Luck is good. :-) Best, LM. Link to comment
