This large female swallowtail was being pursued by the smaller male

with a hope of mating. I thought the out-of-focus male added a nice

feeling to the composition. The flower is a Lantana growing in my

flower garden, Prairieville, Louisiana.

Splendid! You just caught the right moment with perfect focusing and dof!

One of the best butterfly pictures I've ever seen!

The composition, the beautiful colors, sharpness - everything is just spot on. Congratulations!

Outstanding, I think should be classified as 'macro wild life action' shot; composition, focus and dof are excellent. I wonder how many rolls would be wasted if it were shot on film.

perfect photo, DOF is absolutely as it should be, no more, no less, the male gives a sense of depth. Crisp clear in the front. Thanks for sharing

Aha! This is great! capturing a single butterfly in flight is not easy, catching two in a shot is quite an achievement. Doing this while preserving a nice background and a nice diagonal composition is absolutely exceptional. Come on, for these reasons this deserves more for "originality" than it has earned so far.

As a captured moment in nature the photograph needs no title nor any comment. It is as excellent as they get.

Among so many photographs of butterflies this photograph stand different due to inclusion of an out of focus flying butterfly and a gloomy coloration !! cogratulations !!!!

Fantastic! I would be grinning from ear to ear if I'd only caught the female Papilio on the flower! The inclusion of her suitor is just too fantastic! By the way the lantana is a noxious weed in my part of the world! Beautiful as it is.

Great work Ronnie. I know, such pictures needs a lot of patience. I have tried taking butterflies, but never came well though. But this has 2, both are prominent & the flower too, rest all being just blurr. Liked this very much. Keep it going.

While I think this is an outstanding capture, I do believe that having the male butterfly in focus would still improve the image a bit. That is just my honest opinion (although I doubt there is much you could do about that). Still a great one even with him out of focus! Aloha.
