Finch in the Snow

About the only thing that might have made this better is if the Finch had been on a natural branch instead of what appears to be a "Shepards Hook" for the Garden.

The details and background are very good! The falling Snow is Icing on the whole scene.

How well does the 7D perform with the EF 100-400 in your opinion?

I have a "long in the tooth" 50D and have been longing for a 7D with its supposedly improved AF capabilities.

I have a hard time answering your question. It's hard for me to make a comparison to other lenses. I am pretty happy with it - I've been using it for years with my 7D and I wouldn't be without it. I generally shoot it at 400mm and I understand that you don't get optimal results at its max - but I'm Ok with the results. Since I like to shoot flying birds and use a fast shutter speed I'm also getting a wide aperture - which may not give the best results. But, all that said it's been a good lens for me. It's easy to handhold and I don't like to use a tripod.
