Looks like an HDR in some ways (in a good way) but I'd think from your description it is a single shot that you pulled the shadows up. In any event it's very well done. My only niggle might be a fitch of leveling back to the left.

Viewed large, the detail is overwhelming!  The museum itself is a work of art and you've captured it well.
