It does look like something from out of this world, Lex. Must have been tough to frame the shot; I like it.

We just got a foot of blowing snow so some places are 3' deep, and here to stay, but no ice storm yet.

This was just a 3" accumulation of slice - sleet and ice - but I was sliding backward a bit while trying to photograph this soccer ball frozen in the slice.  And my digicams don't have tilting LCDs, so I was relying on an audible level alert.  This is one of the few I took that day that didn't need to be straightened in Lightroom.

For some reason this scene reminded me of the story about Magrathea in the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.  As I was sliding across the ice looking at the soccer ball there was a disorienting feeling of orbiting around a planet that was desperately in need of sprucing up.
