The recent addition to Melbourne zoos Asian elephant family this young calf

is just two days old.

Beautiful composition Art. While we can see 'Mom' just barely in the background I like how you have made the young one the 'star' of this composition. Excellent detail and colour. I have not seen many calves this young, and the 'eyes' certainly have an 'immature' appearance compared to older calves. I find it amazing when in the wild, that the calves even when so young must 'keep up' with the others in order to survive. I watched one program where I was tearing up. One calf got separated from the herd - thankfully it was reunited before any harm came to him. I think your Zoo is exceptional in it's care of these creatures.
