michaellinder 16,611 Posted December 13, 2013 As we were driving up the main road toward the plantation house, we spotted a row of these brick huts. They were situated in front of, and to the right side, of the plantation house. Their real purpose was to house slaves. Going inside them was a chilling experience. Yet, I do credit the plantation owners and the historical organizations in the Charleston area for not trying to cushion the manner by which the slaves lived, worked, and were treated.
