An impressive and dramatic canyon.  The rocks are tangible and the water has just the right amount of motion...  Mike

Ratings are errm Overrated : - )

I like the textures in the rock and the depth of the image looking into the fissure. You have done really well also to reveal such details in a shadowed area.

Nice work Christal!

I was at Maligne Canyon a few years ago and found it difficult to get a usable image.  While it's a very pretty and scary place, a sense of scale was hard to capture.  Perhaps one needs to be deep in the canyon during winter when it is dry?

Mike and Alf.....thanks you guys.   This is an amazing place, which pictures hardly do justice.   Maligne Canyon and Mt. Edith Cavell are my 2 favorite areas of Jasper National Park.

Jeff.....Yes, I totally agree.  When I left Maligne Canyon I was so excited because from the LCD screen on my camera, it appeared that I was getting some good shots with good histograms.  But after loading them, I'm finding that they are all actually rather flat and bland, and they certainly don't convey the feeling (or scale) I had when I was there.  Still, it allows someone (hopefully) to get a taste of this amazing area.  BTW, I just took a quick look at your portfolio....WOW......I have to get ready for work now, but I will definitely get back over there and take a closer look!

Christal,   It's been over 30 years since our tirp to the Canadian Rockies, and your image is a welcome reminder of the beauty in Jasper National Park. Your success at retaining the blue green color in the water and capturing the textures in the canyon rocks is most admirable.  Nice image.  Equally nice travel experience.  Happy holidays and New Year.  Larry

The image really conveys the depth of the wall and the rush of the water. Not sure I would have stood where you had to stand to get this shot! Thanks for you comment yesterday.  Jim
