I think the wide angle works particularly well here in portraying the vastness of the frozen bay. The bands of color in the sky above and the rocks below effectively frame and contain the subtly detailed expanse of the ice.

Thank you for the very astute appreciation.A change in the wind direction,some wave action and most of this was gone today......but it will freeze over sooner or later.
