Thanks, folks.  Teensy sensor digicam are fun for this sorta thing.  It easily accommodates improbable DOF and forced perspective effects, without resorting to tilt/shift lenses, toy camera effects, etc.

I saw this a day or two ago and I didn't know what to say. In truth, I still don't know what to say. I don't like this. (I mean that as a compliment.) Technically it does seem to be a little underexposed. I think the work I am looking for is 'unusual.' I was going to say 'clever.' Perhaps it is that too. Definitely different!

Reminds me of Naked Lunch by William S Burroghs describing his temporary work as a pest control and exterminator of insects. And I wonder what might be behind that closed door...Well done!

Thanks, David.  I tried other exposures, including fill flash.  They didn't look right to me.  "Different" is good enough for me.  I've given up trying to second guess which photos folks might find interesting.  It's rarely what I personally prefer from my own photos.  But if everyone agreed with us there wouldn't be much point to critiques.

Interesting observation, Philip!  I just happened to be re-reading "Naked Lunch" right around the time I took this photo.  That was a year ago so I don't recall whether that was specifically in mind.  But it may have been a subconscious influence.  I'd certainly admit that many of my nighttime photos are influenced by some of the more bizarre counterculture literature I've read and music I listen to.
