Strong image Jim, and an interesting group of subjects. The slight pincushion distortion is a bit offputting, not because it is necessarily overt, but just because the image is obviously intended to be completely straight on. There's also some strong colour moire on the foreground wall which may have been caused by your resizing for this web resolution image. That may or may not be easily addressed, but the optical distortion should be the work of seconds.

Thanks for sharing though. What is the building?

Thanks for the extra info Jim; on checking the full size image again I think the moire may be photo.net's fault as it seemed much more overt when i looked at it last night. It's a surprisingly tall building, was that an elevated train track perhaps?

Very engaging image still, and an interesting exercise in geometry. BW Mark.

Compelling study, Jim, and I would love to see it furthered explored through the tonal range of a B&W conversion perhaps :-) Winnipeg is seeming pretty attractive!

You had a perfect day for this capture Jim. I have never been to Winnipeg so I don't know too much about it. Perhaps one day if we drive out to visit my brother in Banff, we will visit there. We know a couple who were good friends and moved out there. Steve (husband) was hired to be in charge of Food Services for the Casinos in the whole province. We miss them very much and have been tempted to go out and visit. It was nice that you got to go in the summer. Winters are quite cold out there, hence the nickname by Canadians, 'Winterpeg'. The title of the image works very well for this shot. The older hotel with its wonderful architecture is so different from the surroundings. I like the other elements, (textures and lines) in this shot. Good eye Jim.

Sincere regards, Gail
