The original had the front hill virtually silhouetted. I dodged it a

bit to bring out some detail. Would you have done this or left it

silhouetted? Thanks!

Ahhhh, excellent.  I like some detail in the foreground because I feel that with this much ambient lighting I would see detail if there in person...  Mike

Hi Christal!

This is beautiful...very nicely framed and great subjects. I love the single pine against the majestic mountains. The contrast in lighting is nice too and adds a great sense of depth. Nice!

Great composition.  Yes, I like your decision to bring about a bit more detail in the foreground.  I think it's closer to what the eye would have seen.  In addition, it's a relatively large area, and that much black might be a bit too much.

Hi Christal, This is wonderful. I agree with the decision to give more detail in the foreground as well. I think if it had been left without the detail it would have been too harsh a contrast and taken away from the subject. Your images in general are amazing. The lighting and clarity is spectacular.

Jack, Tim, Tommy, Gerry, Stephen, and Jennifer.....okay, thanks, folks!  It seems unanimous, and I'll leave it the way it is.  I appreciate your comments and input.

I like this very much - the composition is very appealing. I like how there is a 'dark framing' allowing me to concentrate nicely on the lit sections of the mountain in the distance. I like the fact that you did not chop the top of that conifer.

It is always easy to be an armchair quarterback but I might have moved a bit to the right so that conifer would block a bit more of that very bright white cloud on the mountain and expose more of the mountain on the right side which is currently blocked. In this case the lower branches on both sides would then be pointers for the eye.  As I said, it is easy to be an armchair quarterback.

Please do not see this as a criticism on the original which is very appealing in its current state. I am just offering this as a possibility for a future shot  knowing that this one cannot be repeated.

All the best and I suppose you will be going 'north' for Christmas for quality family time. Be healthy, safe and best wishes and thanks for stopping by.
