Nice job, on the portrait, John. The left side seems a bit empty here. I might want to crop some of that out and focus on the pretty lady more. It would also clean-up some of those cords on the floor which are a bit of a distraction.

Dear John,

This is very engaging portrait. I like the framing of this with the subject off center slightly. The strong black of the background highlights the black spots on the model's top, sets off her skin tone nicely and just adds a fine "depth" to the entire image. Nicely done (as always!).
