Great shot. This seems a place that has beached on a sandbar. Here things have lost the ability to move forward and, even as we watch, this particular slice of the world begins to recede from us. You have a terrific ability to creative narrative by presenting us with unexpected viewpoints or by juxtaposing seemingly unrelated things and thus inviting us to look at a scene from a position beyond our usual set of assosciations. This has the tendency to open up the picture to questions and speculations. It loosens the screws that fix our expectations and limit our perception to the conventional; fresh interpretations rise to the surface. That's the power of a really good picture, it gives us a new relationship to that which we generally take for granted. .

Your shots have an eye-pleasing natural feeling, great mood and a concept with several different possible interpretations...

Thank you Jack and Yannis for your insightful thoughts and compliments. Jack, I always enjoy reading your critiques. They get a soul to thinking. I am in the process of trying to let go of using the critique forum. Although I have been a member of PN for over ten years its only the last two that I have used the critique forum. I believe it has done nothing but confuse me as to who I am as a photographer and has somehow removed my focus (no pun intended). I may fail at this, but you will likely continue to see less and less of me in this forum. Thanks for your support.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I resumed posting to the critique forum a couple of weeks ago after a long time away. It's kind of like fishing, with your photos as bait. I'm always hoping to hook a rare golden trout but the brook trout there don't seem much interested in my lure. For me the value of a site like this is in establishing relationships with creative photographers whose work stimulates and enriches my own view of the world, as yours does. I think the fishing was much better in the past; I've met and shared opinions with some great people here on pn. I'll still keep throwing my line in the water but without much real expectation. One can always hope though. Anyway, I'll continue following your work and enjoying your take on things. Regards, Jack
