Let me be the first to compliment you on a phenomenal shot!  The little bit of green flora seems to stablize this amazingly dizzy structure. My compliments! ~~~~L

Jack,

One of your hallmarks, the minimal use of color, is put to excellent use here.  The stripes remind me of a geologic cross-section with faults.  I wonder if the odd angles were inspired by the post-earthquake appearance of buildings.

I see multiple stairways. I like this image because of the pleasure I derive from the the excellent graphics with the grass being the visual contrast.

Unusual composition, with a very interesting angle  It looks an original B/W with the touches of green, and lighted brown,  Again Jack  beautiful observation.

A clever & dazzling composition of converging lines and depth.

Agree that the green grass acts as an important anchor point/stage for this.

Striking composition of stripes and black and white. The green at the bottom put the viewer in the reality.

this is just cool. Though I can't decide whether cropping the row of plants is better or worse. Anyway, your choice and it works. Mark's comment is to the point - nothing much to add.

P.S.: and big thanks for visiting and commenting my photos from LeBloc! I very much enjoyed reading your reflections.

I know nobody, I mean nobody, who is as attentive a walker as you are, Jack. The ordinary becomes extraordinary (or in this case, by not cropping the grass, I feel that the extraordinary becomes the ordinary...)

Maybe it has something to do with age, but I'm a little dizzy looking at the picture. If I were really there I might not make it up the steps. I think what Linda said is true. If I I kept my eye on the green I might make it.

This is somewhat reminiscent of carnival attractions I remember, involving perceptual illusions.  In this case, though, it's a perceptual allusion . . . an allusion to reality.

At first I thought that the strip of sand and vegetation was strangely out of place, but comments I read have explained its purpose.  Well done!

My best,

michael

Cool, what a find Jack. It is rather mesmerizing when you stare at it for very long!! Excellent capture. I think it might be a bit tricky to crop it and still remain effective.

The stairs look like their coming out of "nowhere", Jack. The horizontal unfettered painted lines of the walls immediately send your eyes to the stairs. As if they are pointing you their. A remarkable find and capture. Best regards, Paul.
