On a recent trip to Zion we hiked to Angel's Landing. The twisting trail at lower

right is part of the hike from the valley floor. While the hike is only a couple

miles up, the elevation gain is about 1200 feet, a steady climb. The

Cottonwood trees changing color along the river bed added to the already

dynamic visuals. Thanks for looking!

Great shot.  With the exception of the road below, this is a truly primal scene.  Zion is on the bucket list... Mike

Gregory, yes, HDR.   It was a very overcast day with a super bright spot in the otherwise dark clouds.  For the most part, I try to keep HDR throttled back these days, but some situations beg for it.  Thanks for your comment.

Thanks Mike, I'll remove the road for you ;-)    Would you believe the footpath is paved all the way up?   Makes it hard on the knees coming down with a heavy pack and hiking boots.

I've been to Zion, but it was a long time ago and before I started photography.  So I remember little of it.  This makes me want to return.  Stunning scenery, and you've done well with the lighting situation.  Makes me wonder how one gets down to that road.  I'd probably drive down if I could.  :-)

Christal, that is a National Park road where buses operated by the park system take visitors to trails and viewpoints along the way.   To get where I was to take the photo, I had to hike up from the road.

Fantastic view point showing what a vast canyon it is. I have being twice before & is one of my favourite places to visit. Need good legs to where you have climbed.Well done Dominick.

Pierre, you have a way with words!  Not only are you a visual artist, but a poet as well.  Aloha.

Dominick,  Great shot.  You were rewarded for your climb.  Angel's Landing seemed to be more hike than we had the time or ability to do at Zion.  Spectacular image.  It must have been a challenge carrying your camera gear and  tripod on this strenuous hike.   Nice job.  Larry

Thanks Larry.  This is a hike that's rated "strenuous" and I have to agree.  I carry enough gear for a good workout.  We hiked "Observation Point"  a couple days later, with twice the mileage and elevation gain.  That one just about killed us...

Thanks John.  I figure I'd better get as many of these hikes in as I can, before it's too late.
