aarkp 2 Posted October 31, 2013 a well chosen shooting position perhaps, particularly the angle... the growth sprouting on the stone, the reflected light from the surfaces of the stones, the light rimming the mourner, add much value to the composition and lighten the sombreness - fine work, Mike Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted October 31, 2013 I agree, the dark and somber colors reflect the mood perfectly. A well chosen POV as well.Holger Link to comment
Jack McRitchie 150 Posted November 1, 2013 Whether she's wearing some type of veil or it's simply the sunlight shining through her hair, she appears almost ghostly herself as she communes with her deceased loved one. The proportions within the composition are absolutely right. Really an exceptional photo. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted March 11, 2014 A sincere and moving moment. Cemeteries are tough, because there's always the risk of cheap sentiment or cliché. Here, we have the real thing, aided by your acute observation of what the scene held in terms of visually emotive accents and also by your sense of how to translate that photographically. A very nice job indeed, owing to the scene, the subject(s), the lighting, and the photographer. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,332 Posted March 11, 2014 Thank you for stopping here Fred. As far as I could tell we were the only ones here that morning. I felt a little guilt as I photographed her from a distance, but I could not help but go ahead. All by herself & mourning a loved one. Then it occurred to me that I was in the same boat & I couldn't care less if someone snapped one of me. Thanks again Fred, for your comments. Link to comment
