For lack of a better option, I've placed this in the Abstract

category. Although you can tell it's a pier, I guess it does have an

abstract quality to it.

Mike, Bill, Gail and Yannis......Sorry for my tardy reply.....I somehow missed your responses.  Yes, there were some interesting things growing on these piers!  It was almost like a work of art.   We were in a dinghy portaging from a ship to shore, so I had a great vantage point to see these up close.  Thanks for your visits and comments.

Wow! I love this one!!...not sure how I missed it before. A really great study in patterns and non-patterns. The 5/3.2 is really fine as well. Beautifully seen and very nicely presented! It was nice to hear from you!
