There are lots of positives going for this image:  love the boats in a line with different colors and I quite like the sky.  You definitely have 'foreground interest'. Old tires! H-m-m! Old tires are circular and if you had elevated the camera where those circles were more evident, the foreground might have interested me more. Perhaps they will grow on me the way you have it but as you know, this is just  my personal preference.  keep up the fine work.

Thank you for the kind look at this one.I had zoomed in to cut the boat line to those facing the camera and shave the tires to avoid these from mobilizing the attention; I attach a wider view(also uploaded full size) showing more of the tires and while at it,I perked up the sky.Would appreciate your observation.

I think ,after what I read Tony point of view, that crop image fit to my taste better,is just the way each of us perceive a view, boats color line looks very good.

all my best,Radu

Very nice composition with the interesting foreground.  The colorful vessels under the stormy clouds look very intersting and attractive.  Love the foreground. Best regards,

To me, this looks like the type of photo that should be on the wall of a galley kitchen, except that the entire bottom half should be cropped.  I see very little interest in the tires, rope and scruff.  But the boat hulls on the left are a nice contrast to the sky and grey hull on the right.  I like the idea of darkening the sky to add contrast and to connect the grey boat.  Perhaps give it at try!

Gave your suggestion a try with a quick edit to see what you think. This was not taken with the intention of cropping so drastically, but I have to go by this spot to get off my island,so I will be on the lookout for when there is a good sky, calm waters for a reflection or maybe a ice sheet to take a proper shot...grey boat on primer will be a different color as today it was dressed in black before its final coat which I suspect will be blue or green if the cabin trim is any indication.

Hi Laurent,

Yes, I like the crop and more dramatic sky which to me place more emphasis on the boats.  And I like your idea of shooting on a calm day/morning to capture reflections.  I assume these are now dry-docked and perhaps the winter will offer more opportunities!  Good luck, Jeff

Thanks! These boats will be there until at least mid-April when they will be back in the water for the start of the Crab-fishing season usually in the first days of May.I already have some winter shots of this but will surely add a few more.

Meilleures salutations-Laurent
