Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 21, 2013 We watched this fox for at least 20 minutes....he was stalkingsomething. We presume it was a rodent of some kind. He never caughtit, but he ran toward it like this several times. I took manydifferent poses, but this one of him in action pursuing his prey wasprobably the most interesting. Link to comment

timothymuffitt 1 Posted October 21, 2013 Hi Christal,This is great! You have really caught him/her in a focused moment. How exciting! I have seen foxes around my place, but rarely and usually at night, so not really in a good photo op. Nice capture!Tim Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 22, 2013 Radu, Tony, AJ, and Tim......thank you gentlemen! Yes, this was a very exciting moment to watch nature unfold before our very eyes. The amazing thing is that the fox was totally unafraid of traffic or people. He was so completely focused on his prey that the shuttle bus drivers completely stopped and waited the entire time (unusual for them to wait that long). But this fox kept charging and then retreating, and the bus drivers were afraid the fox was going to get hit. I was shooting out of a bus window, but fortunately the fox was on my side. He wasn't a very good hunter though. It was funny to see him sulking off when he 'missed' for the last time. I'll enclose a picture of that when I have a chance. Thanks again for your comments. jeffl7 0 Posted October 22, 2013 Perfect moment! I like how flattened out the little one is. We had a fox who would sun itself at the top of the kids' slide for a couple weeks, but would scamper off every time I tried to nab a shot. But you got him!!! Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 23, 2013 Yes, we had a fox in our old neighborhood, and it was rather skittish as well. This fox was in Denali National Park, and I think the animals there become habituated to humans, which allows closer contact. We had 'close encounters' with other animals as well....it was really cool. So good to hear from you! I looked to see if you had any new pictures of your kids......maybe they're getting to the age by now that they don't like Dad pointing a camera in their faces. :-) Link to comment
steveshinn 0 Posted October 23, 2013 The stride on this animal is amazing. Nice shot from the big green bus. Hope you got to see some griz too. Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted October 24, 2013 Steve.....ahh....so you know Alaska. Our shuttle bus driver was amazing though.....a fountain of information. We were lucky! We saw lots of grizzlies, but none very close-up unfortunately. But we saw lots of wildlife, so we weren't disappointed. Thanks for your comment. Link to comment
