Thanks C. Thao! ... the water is too high since yesterday .. not to many shot since they don't feed much with high water - not in the middle of that beautiful sunset light  ..

Thanks Salvaldor! It's 1/800, F5.6 ISO 640

In my opinion, you want to keep  the ISO as low as you can  to keep the f-stop wide open since the image comes out better that way.

Tm J,

Regretfully I don't have the ability (or desire) to get into all the "technical" details of photography in my critiques/comments. And, I am certain that as many of your photographs that I comment on Tm what I say becomes redunant and repetitive at times but, . . .

I like the good light here, the distinct details and the eye glint! Of course, that bit of Wing tip reflection against that dark foreground and background really enhances it all!

Simply stunning and with a TC!

Regards always,

Jim j.

Thanks Jim! Good to hear from you, actually when I said about the low ISO and wide open f-stop I was only affirming what I've notice. From the old school I always like to shoot around F8 and since I normally leave the ISO at 500 I had to close down the lens to F8... F11 in early afternoon light and I notice that when I do that the image come out very harsh because the white bird shown and properly expose but the differences between the shadows and highlights is very contrasted. I've found that if I shoot at the widest f-stop (F5.6 in this case because of the TC) then the image seems to come out softer .. more pleasing to the eyes. In order to use the wide open f-stop I have to cut the ISO down. In any event, shooting egret at 5PM last week does not produce good result but at 5:30PM or so when the light is a bit weaker produce much better result. So, in general, this white bird comes out best in weaker light.
