All of the elements were there.....ominous skies, windmills and fields

of bright canola in bloom. I'm not sure how compelling the

composition is though.

This was actually near Great Falls, MT.  It was the most amazing light, but we were pulling an RV and there was no place to stop.  So I shot this at 2500 shutter speed from the truck.  It's a little grainy, but it was so beautiful I had to try to capture it.  We were in your neck of the woods this summer.  Hadn't planned to visit Seattle, but the people we were visiting in Tacoma (we stayed at Dash Point State Park) took us in to Seattle for the day.  Thanks for commenting....good to hear from you!

Radu and Ruud,

Thanks so much for your visit and kind words.  I'm looking forward to seeing what images you've posted recently.  We've been traveling in rather remote places for the past 2 months, and I haven't been here on PN very much during that period of time.

So, this is a Benz farm?  ;-) yeah, I know, a warped mind.  A truly excellent drive-by shooting and the light performed perfectly for you... Mike

I love this. I'm hooked on windmills anyway but the contrast between the golden fields and the thundery skies is marvellous, with the windmills breaching the gap between them with their clean white lines. If I had one tiny suggestion to improve it I would spend some time watching and waiting for the rotation patterns of the blades - these are just a little too random and disorganised for my taste. If you used a tripod and are not averse to a little post processing manipulation you could take several exposures, layer them in PS and bring through each windmill with the blades in a more orderly position. But that's just me! I love the image as it stands.

Oh how I would love to have stopped here and shot the dickens out of the entire ridge of wind turbines.  But we were going 60 MPH in a truck, pulling an RV, and we weren't able to stop.  So I asked my husband to slow down as much as he could, I set the shutter at 2500, and tried to get it the best I could. I agree the arrangement of the blades ideally could have been better.  As much as we love the RV lifestyle, pulling a trailer does make it difficult for photography when we're on the road.  Thanks for your visits to 2 of my images.....greatly appreciated.

Lovely contrasts against the dark sky in the background.  Kudos for taking it from the moving vehicle...for seeing an engaging moment and not letting the moving vehicle stop you from capturing it.

Same pretty counterpoint with colors as the photo with the house in the field.  I like the balance in this one in the horizontal view.

Thanks fellas.  Glad you like this.  The color contrast was striking.  I had to try to shoot it, even though it was out the car window.  Under the circumstances I sas pleased with the way it turned out.  I appreciate your comments.
