My water boots allowed this angle. It was a little nippy (5 degrees C) so I had some chemical hand warmers.

Is a very good position you had, with this front grass and that dry tree in water,I like how is composed.Looks a bit disturbing to my eyes the upper bright part that loses details, consider  the condition you did this photo I think was more than difficult to be in water with tripod, to have from same position two or more shots. The fog creates a nice effect.I like it.

my best regards

Radu - thanks for the constructive  critique which i will think about. Keep in mind that this was exactly the way I saw the scene  but I will play with it a bit but keeping in mind that I have a few shots of this scene without the sun hitting the upper portion. Since I have those other shots it may not be worth my effort in subduing the top portion in this photo.

Tony, the brightness was my initial concern, even before I saw your question.  When I scroll the photo up on my screen to crop nearly all of the brightness, I think the image improves.  The composition up to that point is wonderful, and I think the uniformity of light in the "cropped" version makes the photograph more appealing -- the mood of the fog comes through better and is not contradicted by the bright sunlit portions.

I am very glad you found it to your liking. The access to the  few lakes close to where I live have private access which I respect.   This government  park with a nominal daily fee of about 7$ cdn gives me all the access I want.

All the very best,

I appreciate your comment.  I have made a change where I reduced the saturation of that bright area and in addition, I cropped it.

Tony, IMO there is still too much background.  Try taking your original and cropping the background until only 1% remains in the angle of the branches of the evergreen on the right.  Leave everything else as-is.  Of course, that's just my opinion, but I think the result is beautiful and cohesive.
