This photo is not only original, but the larger distance from the sacred place and the very wide angle made it possible to include more of the majestic mountains around than a usual photo. Beautiful picture, congratulations!

I was there a few times during my time in Peru but could never manage to get this clear a view on the impressive site;I like that you got to include that rare view of the valley on the left.Excellent!

Thanks all for taking the time to comment. Indeed a magical place but difficult to photograph well. At the high altitude the light is very harsh with brightly lit clouds and deep shadows in the valleys. You certainly depend on luck with the weather - by the time the mist had burnt off the sun was really too high. When I left that day, it was misty, rainy and cold. I bracketed this and tried HDR merge (several times) - but I was not happy with the results. This is just a single exposure after some careful post processing in Photoshop - which included cloning out lots of people!
