The headstone has a semitransparent look to it, and it seems like I can see, vaguely, the trees behind the headstone with bits of sky peeking through, and the leaf litter on the ground.  The base of the stone is not visible, and it appears to materialize from the leaves, especially the light leaf in the middle of the base.  All together, these illusions give the headstone a ghostly look, a fading away from the solid material world, disappearing like the words on the stone or the memory of the baby who lies beneath.

Meir, technically, this is a well-executed image. It perhaps feels a little soft, but that may be the combination of the stone surface and uploading to PNet. The choice to go B&W is good. Artistically, I might have wished for a little bit more context. That's just me, though. Would a raking light have provided more definition to any remnant markings on the stone?

Mark; Thank you.  David; "raking light"? Probably; but this stone is located in dense woods. Not a lot of light period. I could only enter the woods during winter because of deer ticks during warmer weather.
