I went to Golden Cathedral on August 4, 2013, and it was very hot that day or that period.  Before going there, I checked online and read a lot, especially the book "Photographing the Southwest (Southern Utah Volume)" by Laurant Martres.  so I knew how to get there.  Actually, my wife and I have visited a lot places due to these three volumes.  I packed our wrangler at the Egypt Bench trailhead and started to go down about 8 in the morning.  There was a very large and high clearance van already there.  I followed the instructions of the "Beeline" down to the bottom, and lost the sign of "Round Dome".  So i just followed my sence and try to get to the Neon Canyon.  I hiked a long way aroung the rim of the cliffs and just could not find the way to get down to the Escalente River.  I tried and tried until I was very tired.  I was sweating and felt thirty but kept the 8 bottles of the water in my backpack.  I decided to go back since it was too hot and too tired.  Suddenly, I remembered I had an old hiking GPS which my dear friend Larry lended to me before the trip.  I was lucky and found the "down-road" only 0.2 mile away on my right by entering the coordinates which I took with me.  This is my first time to use a GPS at the real situation.  I was excited and did not feel hot nor tired, heading to the down point immediately.  Down the sandy hill, cross the knee-high Escalante River, I arrived the mouth of the Neon Canyon.  I saw a very large tent prepared by several blue tarps.  I know I was not alone.  Within 30 minutes, I was at the Golden Cathedrail with 4 men and 2 girls...

Don't go there in hot days.  Bring water and your GPS. We bought one now.  I plan to visit it soon with my wife.

Thanks for your time and hope you like it.  Best Regards,

Hi Wanghi,

I enjoy viewing this image small.  It is interesting and colorful and certainly something that is not seen everyday.

There is no need for me to examine the image due to the excessive stop employed.

The facts remain: the performance of a good lens, especially short focal lengths, are compromised by the excessive  f-stops chosen and the result is a clear loss in the clarity level observed.

Best Regards, Mike

Hello Wanghan, I enjoyed reading your interesting and entertaining adventure to the river. I like that there is a person in the image for general perspective purposes, you can appreciate how large the cavern is. The colors are quite beautiful. A most interesting area to explore.

Wow, hard to find but obviously worth it.  I too like the inclusion of the figure for perspective.  Nice image of a very cool place.
