Not fond of the title!

I am one who is not a fan of selective color. This is certainly an image that would not have been successful either way so mixed it is. I do like the composition, lighting, and simplicity here.

Definitively I don't like the title. 1. I have difficulties to understand the sense. Is it the shadow? 2 Also the text on the little golf-ball is disturbing me. So I don't rate this photograph. hen Ry

I like it but to be honest I think I would like it without the ball more. The three dimensional quality of the image os fantastic. Great shapes and tonal range.

Mark, Often I think of titles for my photographs before I take them. Words often inspire me to create image. A friend (I have one you know) suggested 'Hitler' as a title for this. I thought 'Mrs Hitler' to be more amusing. I am glad there are aspects if the image you like. I am very happy that you took the time. Thanks.

Maurizio, I fear you may need to calibrate your monitor. The ball is orange. Thanks for stopping by.

Hen, I am more humbled by people taking time to comment on things they do not like. That said, I am not sure what it is you don't understand. If it is the title you do not understand, I am sure it will come to you in a flash. The title has nothing to do with the shadow. Feel free to rate it according to your feeling. I think low ratings are fine if people take the time to explain. Thanks a lot.

Owen, I never actually thought to shoot it without the ball. If I have the chance with the same model (or with a different model) I will be sure to take it. Thanks a lot.

Alberto, Too kind. Thanks!

I don't like the title, not only because I would rather not see that name mentioned anywhere but, also, the connection to the photo escapes me.

It's not a matter of mixed B&W/colour, it's more that I don't get the point of the golf ball being in the photo, @ all, in the 1st place.  If, just merely for 'effect', I don't get the point of that, either.

I'm sure you must have had some rational to both of the above but, sorry, I'm missing it completely.

Wonder if I am alone...

Cheers,
Drew

Perhaps I had the flash: the ball should not fall!

So I understand now, could be, the sense of the ball. Despite this good idea, the title has not many friends here. But it could be the English-Scotish humour!? Have a good day. henRy

Drew, Again I am humbled that you should write so much on something you don't like. Maybe that is unfair. Perhaps you do like the image a little but the title or the use of the ball. I feel I do owe the contributors to this image an explanation as to the title. See my reply to henRy below. I can understand why a lot of people do not like seeing the name Hitler. I showed this image to a German friend last night. She didn't get the title either. However, she had no hang ups about me using the name. He most definitely existed.

As for the image. It is just that. It is an image. I consider it mildly successful in that people have taken time to comment. I once saw a juggler on TV who would spit ping pong balls in the air and catch them in his mouth. His comment was, "Why would anyone learn to spit ping pong balls high in the air and catch them with his mouth? - I don't know! - However, why would anyone pay to watch?"

Thanks a lot.

henRy, First of all I do not what I should call you. I have been calling you Hen but I am not sure if Ry or henRy is more appropriate. I was hoping someone would have understood the title. My British sense of humour only exists in the use of the 'Mrs.' This is because the subject is female. Anyway, thanks again for the comment. If you really want to understand the title, please click the wikipedia link below.

The Explanation of the Title

Does she know there's a ball between her legs?  :o)    Knowing you, I appreciate your humor and enjoyed this image!

I do think another image minus the ball, with the vagina lightened would also be nice as a more serious image in addition to this one.

Don't lose that humor David!

Michael C, Yes! I think she knows it is there. I am glad you like my humour. It seems not everyone got this. I have made a mental note of your requests. Thanks.

Michael M, 2 cents won't buy me dinner but I am glad you approve of the golf theme. Thanks.

Hey David! I like the hot color that mimics your red hot chili I do and of course I like the subject. The title, I don't object to but I don't understand it either. Let's chat about titles shall we... I do the work and then look for a title. I keep a stack of poetry books by my favorite poets next to my desk and when looking for a title I pick up one of them and open it at random and read a bit of poetry. I often stumble across a suitable title on the first page, if not I continue reading and sometimes move on to another poet who is more in tune with the image I've in front of me. Poets are so succinct and able to say so much with so few words. I happily steal a few from them.

Cheers my friend!

Raymond
