antonio.giacomo 0 Posted September 14, 2003 There is bound to be an odd one out. Any ideas for a caption for this? Or, does it need any caption? Link to comment

margaret_s. 0 Posted September 15, 2003 Incredibile! Ma come ha fatto che quasi tutti hanno la testa nella stessa direzione?! LOL C'e probabilmente qualcosa d'interessante alla sinistra. E molto originale e la composizione e buona. Mi piace l'idea di Carl per il titolo! The only comment I have is that it's a shame the birds' heads are cut off on the top step (and I suppose the feet on the bottom step), but that's the only thing I notice. Link to comment

antonio.giacomo 0 Posted September 17, 2003 Hi Carl, I like your suggestion, so I have changed the caption. Hi Francesco, No, I did not line them up myself. To be honest, I will tell you what happened. I was joining several friends for lunch in the restaurant above the main gate to the Spice Bazaar (highly recommended). I sat down by the window. I could see the steps of the mosque. I saw that most of the birds had lined up, so I made my apologies, and rushed out to snap them. I should have stayed to take a few more frames, but my dedication to fine Turkish food and wine is slightly more than my dedication to photography. Thank you for your comment, anyway. Hi Margaret, There was nothing much on my left. There was a road and some water (the Golden Horn). The other side of the Horn was a cruise ship that had just docked. It looked like a huge, floating apartment block, but it would have been far too far away for the birds to see properly. Perhaps most of the passengers were filling the Bazaar, which was on my right. The problem with the shot was that above the top step it was visually very messy, and also on the bottom step as well. I went in tightly with the lens fully out, to get as flat perspective as possibly. At 200mm the lens has pincushion distortion, which I neutralised with Serif Photo Plus. Apart from that, the image is a straight scan of the negative. Thank you for pointing out that I have cut off some heads and feet. I could rationalise your criticism by saying that my intention was to make it look as if the scene went on for ever in every direction. But that would be me justifying myself after the event. Thank you, anyway. Hi Roberta, Thank you for the compliments, but it was just a snatched holiday snap. Link to comment
alison_reynolds 0 Posted October 1, 2003 There is a strong sense of movement here... They all seem to be rushing off somewhere! Link to comment
