A very 'natural' setting and appealing subject. I suspect it was on auto-focus and in order to get the alligator a bit crisper, you would have to focus manually. However in it's current state, having the alligator a bit soft adds to the tension - maybe there is one hiding ready to strike (*_*). That was the feeling I had when I captured a similar shot this summer in the everglades.  I was told that humans are not on their menu but I guess I have seen too many croc-attack documentaries.

I like this one, although manual focus would have helped.

It takes a moment to resolve what that is in the background, which is good.  The longer it takes to 'see' the whole picture, the better.
