Wayne Sadler 562 Posted September 23, 2013 While traipsing through marsh on Bodie Island, North Carolina,(truthfully I didn’t venture too far off dirt roads and paths for fearof snakes and other creatures) looking for views of the Bodielighthouse, I came upon these birds. I know this is stupid but Ithought if these birds are brave enough to peddle around in thismarsh, surely I could wade through the grass for a picture. Idefinitely wouldn’t make a good wildlife photographer. Comments andcritique welcome. Link to comment

Wayne Sadler 562 Posted September 23, 2013 Thanks, Patsy. You can see I am not a wildlife photographer like you. Link to comment
frigo 4,155 Posted September 24, 2013 I agree with Tony's comment on the birds. We have the same type of scenes here, but I don't even think twice about walking in as,this far north,no snakes or any other critter for that matter....but it can get cold.Nice image!Meilleures salutations-Laurent Link to comment
hstelljes 41 Posted September 24, 2013 Hi Wayne, I appreciate your honesty in the write up. You've composed the image well and its a nice setting. I've had situations where I've gone into the water and others where I too thought better of it and stayed on land. The best part is you're out there shooting and having fun, hopefully. Take care.BR,Holger Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 562 Posted September 24, 2013 Thanks, Tony. The birds definitely motivated me to take the plunge. Thanks, Laurent. I am brave as heck in the winter-time here. Thanks, Holger. I forgot about being afraid while composing this image – so much fun. Link to comment
mike_palermiti 2 Posted September 25, 2013 Hi Wayne,Another picturesque scene my friend. While there was no EXIF data included, I did not see any details that were sharp at all. This is probably NOT due to focus or shutter speed issues, but I suspect that the f-stop used (for whatever lens was used) was on the excessive side, and this limited the overall definition which resulted in a loss of the any higher clarity level across all the scene elements. This still is a pleasant image viewed at reduced enlargement factors.Best Regards, mike Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 562 Posted September 25, 2013 Nikon D90. 1/400s, f/5.6, ISO 200. Good eye, Mike. I was probably scared shitless and shaking in my boots. Actually I think this image was processed in both picasa and photoshop and somewhere in the conversion from raw to tiff to jpeg some clarity was lost. I really appreciate your giving it to me straight. This is very helpful. Link to comment
mike_palermiti 2 Posted September 25, 2013 Hi Wayne,Thanks for the data. I like the Nikon D90 camera because of its sensor package.I figured that you were creating Artistic works here, and I do understand that the technical aspects are sometimes secondary to the effect that you want to present. I am remaining true to my nature. It is still a very nice seen. I would have liked to been there with one of my short to medium telephoto lens to make the shot.Best Regards my friend, Mike Link to comment
