AmyHelmick 0 Posted September 24, 2013 Lannie, this piece is really nice. It looks like a painting. I'm not sure I would've realized it is a reflection unless I was told. The muted colors are so calming. I really, really like this one.Amy Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted September 26, 2013 Thank you, Amy. I'm glad you like it, because I like it--but it hasn't exactly attracted great waves of viewers. The reason that it looks so curious is that the surface of the water did not actually reveal much to the naked eye. I think that I used Shadows and Highlights filter in Photoshop to pull the shadows out. --Lannie Link to comment
AmyHelmick 0 Posted September 26, 2013 Glad you coaxed them out...it made for a successful piece, in my view.Something said in the PS course I'm taking adopts the view that the creative process is just beginning with the taking of the photo. I'm not sure where I stand on that. Generally, I have felt it's good to get what you want in-camera as much as possible; however he made a good point that we have so many more tools at our disposal now, it's foolish not to use them. At least that was my take-away.All that to say, I think you've made the most of the post work here.Amy Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted September 29, 2013 I couldn't see the reflections until I brought up the levels on thisone--and then I decided that the picture had to be about thereflections of trees in the pool above the rapids. Commentswelcome.--Lannie Link to comment
