aarkp 2 Posted September 22, 2013 There are people smiling, laughing, pointing... its good that the oddity of the scene instigates the viewer to look for clues within the composition. Link to comment
overdiep 0 Posted September 22, 2013 Ruud, I think that people in Assen are too serious for a street performance. Nice shot. Groeten, Marco Link to comment
yecon 0 Posted September 22, 2013 Ruud, this is not an "easy" shot. It's a tragic moment and you managed to capture it in the most succesful way. I believe that what makes this scene so strong is the crowd. Well done! Link to comment
Eystein 1 Posted September 22, 2013 I'm not sure if this is a tragedy or acting. But you have captured the moment brilliantly.Regards Eystein Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted September 22, 2013 Wow, this scene is certainly open to interpretation and wild speculation. A figure sprawled in the middle of a crossing, drunk, heart attack, acting, social experiment? Whatever, the crowd reactions could be associated with either; avoidance, disgust, and humor are all evident. However, my favorite is the Dad with his little girl who seems to be saying, "Look, that's what happens when you drink too much!" But then, that's speculation on my part. It would be interesting to hear the real story after all the comments are complete... Excellent street capture... Mike Link to comment
mike_palermiti 0 Posted September 22, 2013 Hi Ruud,A good documentary type of image. A great time for a wide angle lens.No matter what the story line, there is much curiosity captured by the people surrounding theman in the street.Best Regards my friend, Mike Link to comment
wolfgangarnold 142 Posted September 22, 2013 weird scene - this photo "works" because obviously the people connect in so many different ways with the person on the ground and leave a lot of room for ambiguity and uneasiness for the viewer. Link to comment
Giangiorgio Crisponi 425 Posted September 22, 2013 An image that document very well the indifference of the people, where is the Good Samaritan?, ciao Giangiorgio Link to comment
john_nell 486 Posted September 22, 2013 Most people look bemused so I would assume the fellow is acting. Reactions of people well documented,Ruud Link to comment
setsail728 14 Posted September 22, 2013 Marvelous shot. Since I don't know the circumstances here I hope this fellow is acting!! Nice DOF by the way! Link to comment
luda_luda 0 Posted September 23, 2013 Ruud, you capture the people reaction here very well, some care some others don't care and that is how life is. Very good indeed!!!Warmest regards,LuDa Link to comment
GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted September 23, 2013 I find it difficult to interpret this one, but I would assume if something was wrong with this gentleman, you would already be there lending him a hand. Perhaps it is for one of those TV show that want to see just how much people care about their fellow man?? Yet with people laughing, perhaps he is a street performer. Odd to see some not react at all. Well done Ruud. Link to comment
andrea-de-bonis 6 Posted September 23, 2013 fantastic shot! people on the right, that arrives from the street we see, is serious and dont know exactly what to do. but people on the left, standing and waiting, laugh.... so we can assume that there are no tragedies there and we can smile. krpradu 125 Posted September 24, 2013 Looking this is true that first question to be is a real dramatic scene or an acting, the fact that makes me think that is an acting scene is people posture, most of them seem to be not so worried just bemused, yes the little girl has an interesting expression. Is a question to say:if this would be a real situation how many would helped him?I say this because it happened to me few years ago and for ,I don't know 3 or 4 minutes no ones came to see what with me in a place with maybe 25persons,a bus station center city.My opinion is that in last twenty years people became more materialistic, egoistical, preoccupied for there own material good, and lost the special thing we had:humanity and simply way to be one with other.Just my opinion, maybe I am wrong but is what I feel.
