That might even be the I-77 bridge in the distance, in the trees.

 

This was cropped and blown up, giving a de facto telephoto effect.  Still, the I-77 bridge is a good ways downstream--almost two miles, if memory serves.  Is that it?  If not, what else could it be besides that bridge?

 

Maybe someone who is from Elkin could tell me.  This was only my second visit--and my first attempt to take pictures in that beautiful little town.

NO: THOSE ARE HIGH TENSION POWER LINES.  I finally got a shot from inside the town itself that shows the lines very clearly.  I-77 at about 1.5 miles simply was not in range at 17mm, and was blocked by trees, in any case.
