I think the flash flattened the image, Ranga! But, anyway, it's so beautiful!

Best regards

P.S. I now saw that the flash didn't fire, ha! Wrong presumption! Sorry!

Hi Ranga,

It is good to use available light whenever possible.

However, there are times where a flash can enhance the color saturation because of several factors:

1] Each lens and its setting have different levels of contrast and transmission that is provided to the sensor.  This "selection" can be normalized out by using a flash (fill light) to overcome certain drop outs that can occur in the image.

2] The sensor package responds to the intensity of each spectral component in an image. If one color responds at a lower level, the use of a fill flash can enhance the contrast (bring to life) that color.

Now, doing such enhancements in an "analog way" is the best place to start for any image capture. Post processing can not develop what is not present faithfully in the image itself originally.

When I see flowers in adequate lighting, I will often shoot them as they are and with the flash engaged , too. This way, I can see for myself which rendering  more naturally records what I see with my eyes. No doubt, that lovely colors are going to be pleasing to most viewers no matter what is present and what is not, but it is worthwhile to take a few extra shots when you have the time to do so.

Best Regards my friend, Mike
