On the salt marsh of Schiermonnikoog, the Netherlands a group of

researchers stayed the night to catch birds. When morning came, I wanted

to catch the first light with my camera. It turned out that the light coming

from the tent gave a lovely effect on the grass.

I agree with you that the shadows might distract. Indeed, the shadow on the bottom at the right side is distracting, because you can see that it is cause by an object with an edge (in this case the crate on which I put my camera to stabilize it, having no tripod with me). However, the shadow in the middle (which is caused by me) I do not find distracting. I causes an opening in the light on the grass to turn your focus to the horizon and the coming light.

I'll have another try tonight!
