Not only did this capture my attention, it continues to capture my imagination and visually excites me. Wonderful work, good storytelling that doesn't fill in all the blanks for me. Do you have a link to a presentation of the series you've done on this? I would love to see it.

Here, of course, we see the music and dance made visual and compelling by your handling of the camera in the situation. But the way the dancers work overall into the picture as a whole is what really intrigues me. You've made a bold choice, and a good one in my view, to have the man interested and in repose (suggested by the gesture of his folded, resting hands) occupying a prominent foreground position, almost as if I can become him in watching the dancers but playing his own role as a viewer and participant in the moment as well, his solidity and bigness contrasting with the lightness and ethereal quality of the dancers. As he is somewhat cut off by the edge of the frame, an effective compositional move, so the person on the other side of the frame is even more cut off but still supplies an important suggestive presence as a force of energy in the photo.

Despite the analysis I'm giving this, it works spontaneously and viscerally for me. I write not instead of that kind of reaction but in addition to it. It has a very easy feel to it, very in the moment, very un-self-conscious if even very photographically self aware.

In short, it's great! Thanks for the gift. I wander the critique forums in hopes of being rewarded as I am here.

Thanks all.  Thanks Fred that's a quite a narrative.  The shot is happening very fast and the shutter is dragging so its almost taken on an extinctive level.  Here's a link to the set. As you will see, its more of a serious of portraits and people enjoying themselves.  I don't know or even expect to create a sense of place except to all of us that go there, and I didn't really take any shots that really set the scene, so its really more a set of portraits, candid or otherwise taken very quickly.  But enjoy :)

When I first saw this image I only saw the man in the foreground and not the girl. With only seeing the man, my first thought was the man was looking back on his memories which were still very real to him and I found it very touching. Then I saw the girl and realized this was not the intent of the photo. I would love to see this photo minus the girl on the left and then it would be open to interpretation. A very interesting and well done photo as is though. Thank you for sharing.l :)

To all that are mystified, that's great.  But clues are to be found by looking at the surrounding photographs maybe.

Interesting photo. Well spotted, nice composition and good to see movement in the picture.

What i really like is the big guy in the front right picture, watching the two girls dancing. I like the way you've catched his expression and interest for the girls dancing.
