When I converted this image to B&W, I knew I had to present it that way as it emphasizes its tonal contrast much more than the original colour version.

I have been looking through your portfolio a bit.  Your images show very good technical range.  Somehow I was very drawn to this image.  There is no doubt that the tonality is perfect, as mentioned above, but that is not the essence of this picture.  You took a photograph of a very pleasing scene and have successfully conveyed that to the viewer, usually the real scene is prettier than the image, but this image is aesthetically beautiful.

But it goes deeper than that.  This image is emotional.

Yes, this is one of my favourite shots as it truly expresses emotions which is something I try to convey in all of my images.
