You've played with this shot before, I believe, and this is the best of your efforts. Pretty impressive for hand-held at that hour of the night. It has a certain air of southern gothic charm.

Thanks, Jack.  The angle is only slightly different here, but I got these shots at ISO 12,800 so that I could see how hard it might be to salvage a shot made at that level.  At least on this shot made at 12,800, I did not blow out the exposure, as I did on some of the other tries.

So, so far, I am just playing with these shots in order to probe the limits of usability of this camera in dark street situations.  I hope not to have to go to 12,800 ISO in most situations, but I want to see what is possible.

I am grateful that it appeals to you on some level.  I have long noticed the way those leaves and branches hang down over the fence, and, so, after I bought this camera second-hand on eBay, I thought that I would see if it could capture this scene from one of the more dangerous parts of town.  I slowed down to a stop around 1 a.m. and shot from the car, without a tripod.  I have a lot of nighttime street shots that I want to try.

An interesting shot. I haven't seen the earlier renditions but this one seems to show different light sources; incandescent on the  lower part and something else on the trees.  A nice effect.

So, why is Lannie doing wandering around town with a camera after midnight...?    :-)

I have to agree with Jack that this is the best of these so far. The angle and the color are somehow more pleasing that the "straight on" view. I remain impressed with the sharpness and lack of grain in these shots.

Steve, I have been watching those limbs hanging over that fence for months (long before they bloomed), and finally I just had to go out and try to capture it in the dark.

I take a lot of night shots.  It's sort of what defines me as a photographer, amateur though I may be.

Thanks, Amy.  I like this better, too.

I am very impressed with the low light capabilities of this lens, which I bought on eBay.  I hope that I can keep it, since it was a bit of an extravagance.
