Only a few specimens have been preserved in enormous, greenhouse-like geodesic domes attached to a fleet of American Airlines space freighters, currently just outside the orbit of Saturn."(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Running, accessed 04.08.13)Interestingly, an old photo postcard is available on the Web showing how that pier had been constructed / looked like once (the postcard visualizes the pillars yet "doing their job" ;), that is, carrying the overall former construction):http://www.memorybilder.de/cgi-bin/galerie.pl?galerie=0012&pic=Bahnhof_u._F%E4hrhaus.jpg&UPcount=direktThanks so much for stopping by, rating as well as leaving a comment!Buona visione.Volker

Volker, I understand why you have titled this photo silent running, as it does look as though these futuristic hunks of metal are in some way animate, and approaching! I love the colours, particularly the reds of the metal, which blends well with the yellow sky. The silky water is nice but the cloud refection is a little distracting and it also shows how different the sky must have looked in the original image. Too much processing for my tastes there. But overall a very impressive shot, thanks!
