Walking along a windy beach, this vessel popped up from beyond the

horizon. I aimed &, without a tripod, shot this sight. As the weather

was already B&W, I changed the photo into B&W on my computer. Any

comments?

Bevan, that ship is about 15 km away. Shot with 10 x zoom. In a wide angle shot, you'd only see a fly speck on the photo. Thanks for your communication.

Sam, I find the photo extraordinary in giving me the impression of the wide open sea, and being there, looking at the ships. Actually, I have the impression that I am on a boat while I look her sailing by.

An excellent amount of details on the surface of the water makes me almost smell the salty water and feel the wind.

I only think that it would be even better, if the lower part with the wave would be cropped off, taking thus away any possibility to discover the proportions and so the distance and the size of the ship.

Very well done!

Nick

Nick, thanks very much for all the trouble taken to show me your idea of the ideal image. Showing that bit of surf splashing on the beach gave me the sensation of being washed ashore after my ship got wrecked on that uninhabited island just when the S&R team appeared at the horizon ;-) Cheers, Sam.
