Both photographs have merit, but I lean towards the B & W version purely because it looks timeless and the vital smile and expression is not compromised by anything.

 

The colour version looks warmer and more like one for the fammily album. Where as the B & W version is more of a classic.

 

Just my impressions!

Rejith. From Alf’s critique I discovered the B&W version of the image. Indeed the B&W removes the distraction of colors and brings focus on the prime element of the image, the sublimity of the child’s smile and innocence. That is what is expected of serious photography. As a person who loves children and associates exuberance and colorfulness with them, I find this image more appealing to my personal taste. It is lovely image of a lovely child.

You did a great job in capturing his facial expression. To me, his smile has something refreshing and mystical at the same time - and this is meant in the most positive way.

Ten point for natural expression but same time agree Alf opinion,conclusion is that from same image caught you have two very good child portrait and depend of each one taste to consider which like more,best regards to you.
