Wayne Sadler 562 Posted July 27, 2013 Venice is amazing and you sense the locals know this and take great pride in their city. But as a photographer I not only saw its beauty but the construction cranes, the graffiti and the hoards of tourists in my viewfinder. So as a photographer I painfully know I must pay the price of rising early in the morning to really see a city close to its "natural state". Every photographer I saw on this early morn had the same awe and amazement on their face, and knew, somehow, they had been blessed. In this image I removed a construction crane and maybe some scaffolding and made more real, at least to me, the fantasy that is Venice.. Comments and critique appreciated. Link to comment
AlainD 0 Posted July 27, 2013 Superb capture! It looks halfway between a photo and a painting. That's an interesting effect here.Best regards,Alain Link to comment

hess 0 Posted July 27, 2013 As Alain ans Patsy have already pointed it: Very interesting appearance / good post processing. Excellently composed with the blue tarpaulins(?). The lantern adds further interest and is perfectly placed in the picture. Very well done! Best regards,Alex Link to comment
victorwei 0 Posted July 27, 2013 An absolutely gorgeous image made of two beautiful elements working perfectly together - a single lamp and blue covers.Thank you for sharing. Link to comment
margatt 9 Posted July 28, 2013 Great capture of space + time. Wonderful calm peaceful mood. One of the most creative and unique shots I've seen of this landmark. Top marks to you for eye + capturing it. Link to comment
Wayne Sadler 562 Posted July 28, 2013 Your comments are much appreciated, Alain. I debated for some time about posting this image. I wasn’t sure how much I was accomplishing the impression I wanted. I wanted it to be both a photograph and painting (kind of blending the realism of the moment with the reconstructed “painted” memory of the place and time. Thanks, Patsy. Glad you liked this. I was concerned about how this image would be received. Thanks, Alexander and Victor. I was not sure I had overworked this trying to say too much. The blue of the tarps were such a major element so it became the issue of “how blue’ they should be and, as you know, the brain is like it is following a ping pong match trying to place an element such as the lamp. Thanks, for the confirmation. Thanks, Martin. Your comments and perceptions are much appreciated and encouraging. I think you describe the sensation I felt and wished to portray better than I – the marriage of space, time and peace. Link to comment
